Five years ago I started this blog. I began it for a reason. I knew fundraising needed to change
Isn’t this is what it’s all about – not how much money we raise – but what change we bring about to make the world we live in a better place?
The problem is fundraisers are looking at the symptoms not diagnosing the root cause. It’s like taking the batteries out of a smoke detector instead of trying to find the fire.
What do you believe in? This is my manifesto for fundraising. Not all of you will subscribe to it. But it’s what I passionately believe in.
Many blogs are acknowledging fundraising is in a bit of a crisis. Rising acquisition costs, falling response rates, global economic crisis… bla bla bla. So what would you do? Here is my top 10.
We tend to to reasonably think what we can do with the resources we’ve got – but with a BHAG you have to think much bigger.
It might just be a thought but it’s impact has been transformational.
People care more about WHY we do what we do, rather than WHAT we do.
