The danger of business as usual is that it doesn’t encourage the mindset we now need.
A wow thank you is a way for people to talk about you and build your reputation. A wow thank you will spread your story. And that’s the new currency – sharing.
We need to shift from thinking “How can we target as many people as possible?” to your supporters thinking “I want to listen to what you have to say”.
What sort of donor/customer experience do you give? Do you take that extra bit of effort to think about your donors and effectively say “you matter”?
I suspect most charities are geared to send out some acknowledgment in the most efficient way – a thank you – which is really just a receipt and doesn’t mitigate that empty feeling
How many people keep your thank you letters?! In essence a thank you says “I see you”. It says “You matter”.
If you are a fundraiser you are here to help provide the missing link between those with money to give and the cause or mission that needs it
So if we want to build relationships we need to listen more.
